Hoya Indian Rope is a captivating and unusual trailing plant known for its tightly curled, waxy leaves that resemble thick green ropes. Its cascading vines make it ideal for hanging baskets or high shelves, where its form can shine. Over time, mature plants may produce clusters of fragrant, star-shaped pink flowers, adding to its exotic charm.
Slow-growing but rewarding, this variety is a must-have for collectors and those who enjoy low-maintenance greenery with a unique texture.
🌱 Care Tips:
-
Light:
Prefers bright, indirect light. Can tolerate some direct morning sun, but avoid harsh afternoon rays. Lower light slows growth and flowering. -
Water:
Let the soil dry out between waterings. Water thoroughly when the top 2–3 cm (1 inch) of soil is dry. It’s semi-succulent, so it’s more tolerant of underwatering than overwatering. -
Humidity:
Enjoys moderate to high humidity, but adapts well to average indoor levels. -
Temperature:
Best between 18°C to 27°C (65°F to 80°F). Avoid temperatures below 10°C (50°F). -
Soil:
Use a well-draining mix, such as a succulent or orchid blend, or an aroid mix with perlite and bark. -
Fertiliser:
Feed monthly in the growing season (spring to summer) with a balanced, diluted fertiliser. Reduce or stop feeding in winter. -
Pet Friendly:
⚠️ No – Hoya Indian Rope is considered mildly toxic to pets if ingested, so it’s best kept out of reach of curious cats or dogs.
