The heart-shaped leaves feature a mix of green, white, cream, and sometimes even shades of gray, creating a unique and captivating marbled effect. This climbing or trailing houseplant is ideal for adding a touch of sophistication and elegance to your living space.
Origin: Native to the Solomon Islands, Epipremnum aureum 'Manjula' is a cultivated selection distinguished by its unique variegation. It is highly prized by collectors and plant enthusiasts for its aesthetic appearance and low maintenance requirements.
Growth: Epipremnum 'Manjula' has moderate to fast growth, especially in adequate light conditions. It can reach several meters in length, making it an excellent choice for hanging baskets or climbing trellises or walls. The plant can be pruned to encourage denser, more compact growth.
Flowers: Like most Epipremnum varieties, 'Manjula' rarely flowers indoors. If flowers appear, they are small and insignificant, in the form of spathes, but this plant is mainly grown for its striking foliage.
Light: This plant prefers bright, indirect light. It can tolerate lower light, but its colors will be more vibrant in moderate to strong light. Direct sunlight should be avoided to prevent burning of the delicate leaves.
Watering: Water regularly, allowing the soil to dry out slightly between waterings. Epipremnum 'Manjula' prefers slightly moist but well-drained soil. It is important to avoid overwatering, which can lead to root rot. In winter, watering should be reduced while maintaining a certain humidity.
Substrate: A well-draining substrate is essential for Epipremnum 'Manjula'. A houseplant potting mix enriched with perlite ensures good drainage and helps prevent excessive moisture problems.
Toxicity: Epipremnum aureum 'Manjula' is toxic to pets, especially cats and dogs, if ingested. It can cause irritation of the mouth, throat, and stomach, as well as vomiting. It is therefore recommended to keep it out of reach of pets.
