Anthurium regale is a majestic houseplant, known for its enormous, velvety, heart-shaped leaves adorned with prominent white veins that give it a regal and impressive appearance. This plant is ideal for those looking for a centerpiece in their houseplant collection, bringing luxurious elegance and unparalleled visual appeal.
Origin: Native to the rainforests of Peru, Anthurium regale grows naturally in humid undergrowth, where it benefits from filtered light and high humidity.
Growth: Anthurium regale has a moderate growth habit, developing leaves that can reach a length of 90 cm when grown indoors. This plant can reach a height of 60 to 120 cm, depending on growing conditions, providing an imposing and elegant presence in any indoor space.
Flowers: The flowers of Anthurium regale are inconspicuous and typical of Anthuriums, with a green or white spathe surrounding a central spadix. However, it is the spectacular foliage that is the main attraction of this plant.
Light: This plant prefers bright to moderate indirect light. It thrives near an east- or west-facing window, or under suitable artificial light. Direct sunlight should be avoided to prevent burns on the delicate leaves.
Watering: Water regularly to keep the substrate slightly moist, allowing the surface to dry between waterings. Anthurium regale thrives in high humidity, which promotes healthy, vigorous growth.
Substrate: Use a well-draining, organic-rich potting soil, such as a mixture of peat, perlite, and bark. This type of substrate allows for good root aeration while retaining the moisture this tropical plant needs.
Toxicity: Anthurium regale is toxic if ingested. It is advisable to keep it out of reach of children and pets.
