History of our Monstera Albo Borsigiana

The initiation plant material for our tissue culture was purchased from Filoli Botanical Gardens in San Francisco, and was from a single plant in a legacy collection thought to be passed down from the founders of Filoli, the Bourn family, to Lurline Roth, who bought and took over the property, and created the magnificent gardens that are shared with the public today.

The original cutting is thought to have been from a plant that was brought to the Filoli conservatory anytime between 1920 and 1940, and would most likely have been taken from a naturally sourced plant, as in that era, it was common for botanists to travel to tropical places and collect plant specimens from the wild.
