Pumpkin Squash is a sprawling vine producing decorative squash that requires more space than most gardeners initially estimate. Each packet is hermetically vacuum-sealed -- removing the oxygen that causes standard paper seed packets to lose germination viability within approximately one year. State law requires a 3-year viability label on sealed packaging. NASA research on hermetic seed storage indicates viability of up to 10 years under proper conditions. Every packet is non-GMO and germination-tested at independent third-party labs before it earns its Japanese woodblock print artwork.

How to Grow Pumpkin Squash from Seed

Sowing and Germination

Direct sow after last frost, 3-5cm deep. Start indoors 3 weeks before if needed.

Care and Harvest

Needs 3-4 square metres per plant. Harvest when skin is hard and stem dry. 90-110 days.

Standard paper seed packets are permeable to oxygen and moisture -- the two primary causes of seed degradation. Most paper-packaged seeds begin losing germination viability after approximately one year, contributing to significant garden-industry waste: packets purchased, not planted, expired, discarded. About the Packaging

Every Shido seed packet is illustrated in the style of Japanese 1910s woodblock printing -- designed and drawn in-house by Chive, the Toronto ceramics studio that has been exhibiting at the Chelsea Flower Show in London every year and does not, as a matter of principle, sell to big-box retailers. Customers collect the packets as a series. This was not the original plan.

Comprehensive wilderness medicine reference
Format: Paperback
First off, this book should be supplement to actual in-person first aid training and course work. I only have my background in Boy Scouts and work required first aid/cpr/stop the bleed response to base this upon. But there is no substitute for competent in-person and hands on training, even if you have excellent books for reference. That said, this book does have a very thorough guide on most issues that could be faced in wilderness and emergency situations. The cross over for urban use, would be situations like a natural disaster that renders hospitals and EMS unavailable or over capacity. It's a very affordable book for all the information it contains, and is published by a reputable school. NOLS has been teaching outdoors skills since it was formed in the 1960s. If you can keep a level head and have decent reading comprehension, this book lays out diagnostic and treatment advice for many life threatening injuries and accidents. I'd recommend this book to anyone looking to expand and supplement their knowledge beyond basic first aid and CPR.
